When it comes to packing a bag, there are lots of different schools of thought. I ordered two panels, one for the main pouch and one for the small pouch of my Blue Force Gear Jedburgh pack. The Jedburgh pack itself is rather discreet and low profile, and Grey Man makes panels that fit it perfectly.
The Grey Man Tactical MOLLE Connection
MOLLE is a gear attachment system that is present on all modern tactical gear. Plate carriers, belts, packs, and more are covered in MOLLE to make it easy to attach near anything. MOLLE has become the universal standard for tactical gear. Grey Man Tactical designs hard polymer panels that are MOLLE compliant and designed to allow you to attach MOLLE gear where you see fit.
The panels are MOLLE compliant, but you aren’t limited to just mounting MOLLE gear. The polymer ladders allow you to attach a wide variety of gear. Things with pocket clips, carabiners, and beyond can be easily mounted to the panels as well. If you can tie it down, lash it up, or connect it in one way or another, then it can be mounted to the Grey Man Panels.
The panels themselves also has tons of room for straps or ropes to tie these down to the back of a car seat, to a wall, or anywhere else you want to mount gear. Grey Man Tactical panels are rugged and well made and allow you to organize your gear in a wide variety of ways.
Tactical And Beyond
Obviously, when your name is Grey Man Tactical, you expect these panels to be tactically oriented, and they certainly can be. You can mount magazine pouches, IFAK kits, knives, ammo pouches, radios, and with the bigger panels, full-sized rifles. That’s the sexy stuff, the stuff that lands these panels in glossy gun magazines.
Thinking that is all they could be used for is shallow. If I was heading to the field, I wouldn’t be attaching ammo, medical gear, etc., to this kit. That’s stuff already on my plate carrier. I would take it in a different route. I would organize my critically important gear. Gear I might need to rip out in a hurry, or gear that’s small and easy to lose.
I would use 550 cord to attach my tightly folded tarp and poncho liner, as well as my equally tightly wrapped Gore-Tex jacket. If it starts to rain, I want to be able to get my gear, and myself covered as quickly as possible to stay as dry as possible. Alongside that, I’d attach my flashlight, my multi-tool, my gun cleaning gear, and likely my hygiene gear. This stuff is small and easy to lose, and when it’s needed, you don’t want to have to dig and dig to find it.
Corpsmen and Medics would be well served to outfit a Grey Man Tactical panel full of critical medical gear they don’t want to dig for. Toss on tourniquet pouches, H-bandages, quick clot, nitrile gloves, and more. All the stuff that a traumatic injury gear that a medic or Corpsman would need on the fly.
Everyday Life
The panels allow for instant organization and easy access to your gear when it’s regulated to your backpack. That doesn’t end for police officers and military personnel. Anyone who hikes, camps, or carries a bag daily could use a Grey Man Tactical panel. It makes it super easy to organize your daily commute gear: a tablet, laptop, chargers, external battery. Don’t even get me started on camera nerds and their needs for organization.
I have mine loaded with the sexy tactical stuff at the moment, but I plan to make it more adventure-based. Let’s strap down a water bottle case, a flashlight, multi-tool, compass, extra socks, and of course, rain gear. I hate the rain, if you can’t tell.
