Military Changes: Mail room closures, basic training updates, and more

The United States military has taken proactive steps aimed at protecting service members and military families amid these unprecedented times. Military changes adopted in recent months span every facet of service, every pay grade, and every branch.

Military Changes in the Mail – Updated May 12

The Sandboxx team maintains active communications with mail rooms at basic training installations around the country in order to ensure Sandboxx Letters make it to your loved ones on time, every time. While many Americans are isolating at home and unable to get to the post office, Sandboxx Letters will print and ship your letters along with a picture and even an Exchange gift card if you want to help out with training essentials.

Sandboxx ships letters overnight via FedEx, and all letter printing and stuffing is done via machines, ensuring total privacy of your letter content. Letters are safe to send, easy to make, and usually arrive the next day.

Basic Training Changes

As a part of broader military changes in recent months, every branch has taken precautions to ensure the safety and well being of new recruits and trainees. These changes come frequently and Sandboxx staff maintains both communications with training commands and active monitoring of Defense Department news releases in order to keep supporters up to date about changes with their loved ones’ training and graduations.

Marine Corps

Family Day and Graduation events aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island have been canceled until further notice. Indoor graduation events are live-streamed on the Parris Island Facebook page.

Sand Diego

Family Day and Graduation events aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego have been canceled until further notice. Graduation ceremonies are not live streamed, but are posted by MCRD San Diego Public Affairs that same day.

Fort Leonard Wood
