Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed during today’s attack against Iran, according to American President Donald Trump.

“This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS,” Trump wrote on the Truth social network.

Trump and Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu had previously said that they were shown photographs of Khamenei’s body following today’s attacks.

Iran has been denying the reports of Khamenei’s death saying that he was “steadfast and firm in commanding the field,” according to Reuters.

Khamenei’s compound was hit in the first hours of Operation Epic Fury or Operation Rising Lion, as the U.S. and Israel are calling the operation against Iran respectively.

Khamenei had been Iran’s supreme leader – which is the country’s highest political and religious authority –since 1989. His tenure had made him the longest serving political leader in the Middle East.

Israel Defense Forces have also announced the deaths of several other high ranking Iranian military and intelligence leaders, among them the Iranian minister of defense and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s elite military force whose task is to uphold the country’s Islamist regime.

In his Truth post, President Trump reiterated that Iran’s military and security forces will enjoy immunity should they surrender, and added that “This is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country.”

Netanyahu also said that now it’s up to the Iranian people to “finish the job.”

When asked who would replace Khamenei in the event of his death, Trump told NBC, “I don’t know, but at some point they’ll be calling me to ask who I’d like… I’m only being a little sarcastic when I say that.”

“In the next few days, we will hit thousands more targets of the terror regime,” Netanyahu said.

In his Truth post announcing Khamenei’s death, Trump echoed the Israeli prime minister’s words by saying, “The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!”
