The Army’s Soldier Referral Program — Turning Pride into Action

The Army’s Soldier Referral Program turns pride into action—giving Soldiers the chance to shape the future force and earn rewards along the way! Whether it’s a friend, classmate, or community member, referrals help bring motivated recruits into the Army family while strengthening the team from the inside out. Every connection counts, every referral matters, and every Soldier has the power to make an impact.

When you are doing something you love and you are thriving, it’s natural to want to share your success story. The Army’s Soldier Referral Program takes that pride and turns it into action—giving Soldiers the chance to actively shape the future force while earning rewards along the way. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or someone in the community who’s interested in serving, this program empowers Soldiers to make a difference in who wears the uniform next.

How the Soldier Referral Program Works

The concept is simple: Soldiers refer someone they believe would make a great addition to the Army. If that person enlists and ships to Basic Combat Training, the referring Soldier earns recognition and incentives. It’s a win-win—the Army gains motivated recruits, and Soldiers get rewarded for helping build the team.

Who Can Participate

Active duty and Army Reserve Soldiers can all participate in the referral program. Even Soldiers still in training—like those in Basic Combat Training or Advanced Individual Training—can make referrals through the program’s official channels. This means Soldiers can start shaping the Army’s future from day one of their service. Your Soldier will need to have thier referral enter their information on the following link.

Rewards and Recognition

Under the Soldier Referral Program (SRP) Pilot, Soldiers in the grades of E-1, E-2, and E-3 may receive one rank advancement for providing a valid referral of someone who both enlists and ships to Army Basci Training. Soldiers may receive only one advancement for participation in this initiative throughout their entire careers, initiated within 60 days of the referred Soldier shipping to Basic.

All Soldiers will be eligible to earn the Army Recruiting Ribbon for a valid referral of someone who both enlists and ships to Army Initial Military Training (IMT). This honor may be awarded up to four times, as indicated with a numerical device added to the ribbon. Soldiers in the grades of E-4 or E-5 receive 10 promotion points for each award of the ribbon, up to a total of 40 promotion points.

Why It Matters

The Army isn’t just a career—it’s a community. When Soldiers refer people they know, they’re helping ensure the Army stays strong with individuals who share their values, work ethic, and dedication. The referral program strengthens unit cohesion and builds a force made up of people who already have a personal connection to the Army’s mission.

The Bottom Line

The Soldier Referral Program is more than just a recruiting tool—it’s a way for Soldiers to take pride in their service and directly impact the Army’s future. By sharing your experiences and encouraging others to serve, you’re building the next generation of leaders, teammates, and battle buddies.

I’ll be back next week with more updates and guidance. Until then, Hooah!
