Sandboxx is sponsoring 1,000 letters to service members currently serving overseas. That means you can jump into the Sandboxx app, write a letter to your service member, and get it to them at their overseas duty station free of charge.
While it can be easy for lots of us to get all caught up in how difficult things have been at home amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many service families are facing these challenges atop the stress of having a loved one overseas. Sandboxx isn’t immune to these challenges as a business, nor are we as individuals. Many of us are military spouses and veterans ourselves. Some of us are working from home with our loved one deployed or stationed in another part of the globe.
“Sandboxx founders, Sam Meek and Major General Ray ‘E-Tool’ Smith, know from first hand experience the importance of staying connected when going through training and deployments,” Shane McCarthy, Sandboxx’s Chief Marketing Officer explains.
“Sandboxx Letters was conceived to keep families connected after the Department of Defense ceased their Moto-Mail program in the past decade to those overseas.”
The military knows how to handle a bad situation, but every Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman, and Coast Guardsman benefits from two distinct support structures: one from the command, and one at home. These two channels are essential for military readiness, as the command monitors the training, health, and well being of its troops, and families help assuage concerns, raise morale, and provide essential morale support for their loved ones in uniform.
“We’ve seen an increase in letters being sent to those on deployment from loved ones in recent months as greater restrictions are put in place regarding the use of personal technology devices,” McCarthy says.
“Families at home also face restrictions and may not be able to make it to the post office or be able to print photos that they would like to send. With Sandboxx, they can send a letter and add a photo without leaving the house.”
As a part of Sandboxx’s commitment to our service community, we work hand in hand with military commands across the force to find ways to better serve the military and the families that play such a vital role in America’s defense. That commitment has been the driving force behind countless Sandboxx initiatives, including the decision to sponsor the first 1,000 letters sent to overseas military addresses.
“For the veterans, spouses, and patriots on the team, it was important for us to be able to do something small to show our support for those in service,” McCarthy says.
“Some of our team members have loved ones who are deployed so it’s personal for us.”
Here’s how to get your letter out to a loved one, without paying a penny:
Download the Sandboxx App onto your smart phone, or sign up through the Sandboxx Letters function on our website.
Write your letter and make sure you include the APO, FPO, or DPO in the city section of the recipient’s address. It’s important to remember to include the letters APO, FPO, or DPO so the system recognizes your letter as one going overseas. The letter token for the first 1,000 letters will then be covered by Sandboxx.
