Here at Sandboxx, we are all about connections. That’s why we’ve created a series of blogs to share a little more about the people who work at our company.
We want you to feel even more connected to our mission and the people who love serving you.
Below we share some details about our happiness customer lead, Bree Salas who is also a military spouse!
Name: Bree Salas
Title: Customer Happiness Lead
Branch of Service: United States Marine Corps (spouse)
Bree Salas has been a military spouse for a long time.
Just how long?
18 years.
Along the way, she discovered a passion for working with military families. As a Marine Corps wife, she wanted a career that connected her to the military.
“I just wanted to do something with the military that wasn’t on base,” she says. “I was super pumped when I got hired by Sandboxx.”
Bree works as a customer happiness lead.
And she absolutely loves it.
If you’ve ever had a question about Sandboxx, chances are good Bree helped you along the way. Throughout the week, she works remotely from her computer, answering questions for users.
On an average day, she answers questions like:
- What are the battalion colors (for the Marine Corps)?
- What can I wear to my son’s boot camp graduation?
- Where are the best local restaurants near the base?
- When does my child graduate?
- What do I need to get on base?
Her husband Toby is currently stationed in California. Bree considers herself lucky that he’s only deployed twice in the nearly 20 years he’s served.
But she’s learned to be independent, too, and so have her three kids.
“It’s literally a sink or swim kind of thing,” she says of being a military family. “I’ve been on vacations without my husband. I can fix the car. I can mow the lawn.”
While it can sometimes be challenging, there are great rewards and fun moments, too.
Like going to 18 Marine Corps balls.
“We’ve never missed one, we always have gone.”
And she’s never had an issue with finding something to wear, either.
“I’ve learned to reuse dresses,” she says. “No one pays attention to your dresses or remembers what you wear.”
Turns out, attendees are usually having too much fun dancing and laughing.
While they may not remember gorgeous ballgowns, people do remember having a blast, she says. The secret is letting loose with close friends that make military balls memorable.
Despite attending so many balls, Bree can still recall her favorite like it was yesterday.
In 2012, she attended a Marine Corps ball hosted in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace. While the setting was gorgeous, the company she and her husband went with are why she remembers it so vividly.
“We went to the ball with great friends from my husband’s unit,” she says. “The people that you sit with or go with make the ball exciting and fun.”
Even after 18 years, she’s still looking forward to the next one, especially because she knows her husband is in the Marine Corps for the long haul.
As for her career with Sandboxx, she loves it and couldn’t think of a better fit for her experience, time, and energy.
“I just like what I do. I’m happy in my niche. It’s a good place to be. The mission is so important- and I love it. Being part of something bigger than myself- helping the military community is where it is at for me.”
